Goals
Investigate and develop policy and workflow for managing data so that critical data is preserved or can be reproduced.
Issues Involved or Addressed
The lifecycle of data is currently used within NIST-ISO Big Data reference architecture and numerous scientific data centers around the world. The team will examine and help improve several existing research projectsÂ’ current practice in data management. This project has the following parts:
analyzing the characteristics of the research projects and the sources of data
examining the technologies, including but not limited to the software, used in managing data
defining the lifecycle of the data
review studentsÂ’ practice and inventory of data
identifying strength and weakness
proposing improvement and relevant technologies, as well as available and needed resources
creating procedure for training the researchers
designing metrics for evaluation
