A multidisciplinary team of students in Stony Brook University’s VIP program played a key role in launching research that secured a more than $3 million NIH grant to investigate the mechanisms behind kidney disease. By contributing to literature reviews, experimental design, and early-stage discovery, VIP students helped transform a collaborative research idea into a funded project aimed at uncovering new therapeutic approaches and improving long-term outcomes for patients with kidney disease.
