Stony Brook Students Make Play More Accessible
Through hands-on innovation, VIP teams redesign toys to support children with diverse needs.
At Stony Brook University, engineering students partnered with a local children’s center to adapt toys for children with disabilities, making play more accessible and inclusive. Through the 3D PATH initiative, students modified toys with features like larger, easier-to-use switches, allowing children with limited mobility to engage more independently. The project operates within the VIP program and highlights how VIP empowers students to apply technical skills in ways that create real-world impact while fostering empathy and innovation.
