Automatic Music Transcription

Automatic Music Transcription

Goals

Automatic Music Transcription allows musicians to record live music performances in noisy environments such as coffee houses and create music transcripts (sheet music, guitar tabs, or MIDI files) for each of the instruments. Musicians may also use the software to document their own original performances and to search for information on cover songs when the performed version differs significantly from the standard recorded version.

Issues Involved or Addressed

Our team works to develop mobile applications capable of automatically transcripting music. In doing so, students work to model human transcription in an automatic, app based environment bridging traditional music disciplines with other science fields.
