At the University of New South Wales, a new cohort of students has joined the “Flying Cars – Virtual Reality Simulator” project, an ambitious initiative exploring the future of transportation. The project brings together students and researchers from multiple disciplines to develop a high-fidelity VR simulator that studies passenger behavior, comfort, and human interaction across emerging mobility systems like flying cars and autonomous vehicles. Through the VIP model, students collaborate on long-term, research-driven work—building immersive environments, designing motion systems, and applying data analytics and machine learning to real-world challenges. Their contributions help advance safer, more sustainable, and user-centered transportation solutions while providing hands-on experience at the forefront of innovation.
